This is my take on French Toast Cinnamon Rolls they have a crispy top and super soft center!

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • * 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
    * 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast, 1 package
    * 2 large eggs, room temp
    * 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    * 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    * 4 cup all-purpose flour, separated
    * 1 tsp salt

  • Filling:
  • * 1/2 cup brown butter (boil butter for 5 minutes)
    * 1 cup packed brown sugar
    * 2 tbsp cinnamon

  • French Toast Topping:
  • * 1/4 cup milk
    * 2 eggs
    * 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Maple Syrup Glaze:
  • * 1 cup powdered sugar
    * 1/3 cup maple syrup
    * 1/4 cup milk
    * 1 tsp vanilla extract
    * Optional brown sugar pecans

Directions

  • Dough: In a small bowl microwave milk to 110° F, 60 seconds. Place warm milk and yeast into stand-in mixer bowl fitted with paddle and let it sit for 10 minutes. Pour eggs, melted butter, sugar into the mixture and beat just till combine. Slowly add flour and salt mixture 1 cup at a time till incorporated. Change paddle to dough hook and beat for 6 minutes. Transfer dough to a greased bowl and cover it with a towel. Let dough rise for 60 minutes in a warm place.
  • Filling: While dough rises make filling by combining brown butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Dough: Punch down dough. Roll out dough into a rectangular shape and spread filling on top of dough leaving a 1 inch rim. Roll the dough into a log shape and slice into large rolls. Place into a greased 9” to 10” baking dish. Place towel over the rolls while you make your French toast topping. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • French Toast Topping: Combine milk, eggs and cinnamon together. Pour over cinnamon rolls. Your roll do not need a full second rise on your rolls.
  • Bake & Glaze: Bake for 25 minutes. Combine all glaze ingredients and stir till smooth. Drizzle maple glaze over the rolls, sprinkle some pecans on top and enjoy.
