1 cup salted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
2 cups chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and set aside. (Let parchment hang a little over the dish so it is easy to pull out).
- Cream together butter and sugars until combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
- In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder. Mix in the dry ingredients until combined. Add chocolate chips and mix well.
- You can totally make regular cookies with this recipe (scoop out balls about 2 tbsp big, on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes) but we decided to take the cookie dough and place it into a baking dish to bake bars. Pat down cookie dough to fill whole dish, do not over pat.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Take the cookie bars out when they are just starting to turn brown and the top is slightly cracked! Let it sit in baking dish for 10 minutes before pulling the parchment paper up out of the dish. Have bars cool for another 20 minutes before cutting on the counter!
