Ingredients

  • Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 Lg egg
    1 1/4 cups whole milk
    2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Pecan Pie Topping:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    1 cup dark brown sugar
    1/3 cup honey
    2tbsp heavy cream
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups crushed pecans

  • Cinnamon Sugar Topping
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Donuts: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease donut pans. Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined. We use a stand mixer for the donuts but you do not have to. Pipe the batter into the baking pans, filling each one a little more than three-quarters full. Bake for 12 minutes, until donuts rise and are not wet on top. Allow to cool for 5 minutes. While cooling start pecan pie topping. Then tap the doughnuts out onto a sheet pan.
  • Pecan Pie Topping: Combine in a medium saucepan the butter, brown sugar, honey, heavy cream and vanilla extract. Stir at medium heat for about 2 minutes and combine in the chopped pecans. Stir pecans into filling for about 1 additional minute till pecans are covered and nice and gooey.
  • Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Melt the butter into a dish big enough to dunk your donut in. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Dip bottom and side of donut only into the butter and then in the cinnamon sugar! Then spoon on pecan pie topping to liking. Sprinkle some sea salt and enjoy!
